Our staff
We meet each child's physical and emotional needs by maintaining a low adult to child ratio. All staff have experience working with children, along with training in early childhood education and health and safety procedures. All employees are certified yearly in CPR. All staff participate in an annual professional development day to continue their training in working with children.
Amy Boulter, the Program Director, has a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and Child Life Therapy from Wheelock College in Boston, MA. She has worked with children and families since 1984. Prior to her employment at MEDI, she taught young children for 4 years at a private nursery school in Concord , MA. After leaving her teaching position Amy was employed for 7 years as the Director of Resource and Referral at Workplace Connections, a child care consulting firm in Waltham , MA . She has been employed as the Program Director for MEDI since 1995.
Mary Lou Renga, a Medway resident, has been working at MEDI since January 2000. She is the Assistant Director and Lead Teacher for the 3rd and 4th grade classroom. Prior to joining the MEDI staff, Mary Lou worked at Bright Start Daycare in Medway and the Golden Goose Nursery School in Hopkinton. Mary Lou is a graduate of Caldwell College in NJ and has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She has completed Early Childhood Education and Child Development Courses at Massachusetts Bay Community College. She is Lead Teacher qualified with the Massachusetts Office Of Child Care Services.
Shannon Choate has been working at MEDI for the last 6 years. Prior to coming to MEDI, Shannon worked in a medical office in Southboro, MA. She is the Lead Teacher for the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade classrooms. She very much enjoys working with children and finds it to be a stimulating challenge to keep them busy and intersted. She is very happy at the end of the day knowing that she enjoys what she does and that she may have made a difference in a child's day by playing a game with them or just listening to them tell a story. In addition to enjoying working with the children she enjoys creating a bright and fun classroom for the children. Shannon is Lead Teacher qualified with the Massachusetts Office Of Child Care Services.
Laurie Federico has been working at MEDI since 1999. She is married and the mother of two sons. She has been a Medway resident since 1976. Prior to coming to MEDI, Laurie was a lunch room monitor for 14 years at the Burke/Memorial School. Laurie is a Group Leader for the Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade classroom, she spent two years working with the 3rd-5th grade. Laurie works 5 mornings per week and 3 afternoons. Laurie enjoys working with the children doing crafts, playing games or just being with them. Her goal is to make MEDI feel like a home away from home. Laurie is Group Leader qualified with the Massachusetts Office of Child Care Services.
Mary Ellen Akins started at MEDI in September of 2005, she was a group leader for the 3rd and 4th grade in 2005 and is a Group Leader for the 5th and 6th grade at this time. She graduated from Boston State College with a degree Public Service. After graduating she worked in the health care field as an assistant manager fo a home health care agency. Mary Ellen has spent many years volunteering in her community and with the Medway Public School system. She was a girl scout leader for 10 years and has performed a number of varied roles in the school system from classroom aide, serving on committees to organizing school events. After raising 5 children Mary Ellen returned to the work force where she is currently employed by MEDI and the Medway Public Schools as a cafeteria monitor. She currently serves on the board of the Medway Seconday Home and School Association.
Lorraine Collins has been working at MEDI for three years. She is the lead teacher for the Middle School program. She brings many years of experience of working with children to MEDI. Lorraine has worked at a dancing school, a youth center and a child care center at a gym.
Patricia Sanders started at MEDI in September of 2006, she is an Assistant Teacher in the 3rd and 4th grade. She is working towards her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked with children for the last 6 years, Patricia worked in a day care for 4 years and was a Teacher's Assistant in the East Providence School System for 2 years.
Betsy Carretta started at MEDI in January of 2005, she is a Group Leader for the Middle School and the 3rd and 4th grade. Betsy has been a Medway resident for 20 years and is the mother of three children, Michael, 23, Andrew ,21 and Jill, 19. She also works at the Memorial School as a paraprofessional in the third grade. Prior to working in the school system, Betsy ran a home daycare for 12 years. She has a Bachelor's degree in Business.
Bonny Trombert has been with MEDI for 15 years. She likes to provide an encouraging and exuberant environment while the children are working on projects or enjoying a club. She believes that imaginative play helps create and develop teamwork while working with others in a group. Bonny is also a co-owner of Big Bird's Nest Nursery School in Millis.
Pat Wong has been with for 5 years and she has worked for the Medway Public School system for 8 years. She has a degree in Social Work from Penn State. She works with the 1st and 2nd grade classroom an Assistant Teacher. Pat has 3 grown daughters that live in the DC area and a cat named Lollie.
Aubree Buyny has been working at MEDI for the last 4 years, she began as a substitute in her Freshman year of High School and now works 5 days a week with the Kindergarten and 1st grade. Working with children has been an amazing experience for her and she will move on to study Early Childhood Education in college. She enjoys connecting with the children and wants the children to see her as a friend and a teacher. She strives to put a smile on each child's face daily.
Rachael Woodcock is 17 years old and a senior at Medway High School. She is the oldest of 5 children, Sarah 14, Jenny 14, Olivia 6 and Brad, 4. Rachael attended MEDI in elementary school and came back to work at MEDI in 2005, she currently works with the 3rd and 4th graders. She has worked with children with special needs at Camp Sunshine.
Staff members work closely with parents to address special needs and concerns. Daily communication between staff and parents is a key component of the MEDI program.
MEDI maintains a higher staff to child ratio than is required by the Massachusetts Office of Child Care Services. The state allows a 1:13 staff to child ratio. MEDI maintains a 1:10 staff to child ratio.
